Popeye village, Malta

The next day on the island was reserved for visiting one of the best attractions of Malta → Popeye Village, located in Anchor bay.

We took a bus to Mellieha and from there we walked 1km to Popeye Village. Normally, 1km is not far, but on that hooot and sunny day I have to say it was quite an adventure finding Popeye.

In the end, it was totally worth it when the first thing you see is this amazing panoramic view of the Village.

Popeye Village was built as a film set for the Holywood film Popeye in which the famous actor Robin Williams had starred.

It took over seven months to build this Village which consist of nineteen wooden buildings.

It’s opened to the public seven days a week as an open-air museum. There are a lot of attractions for visitors. You can meet the main characters from the show – Popeye and Olive, too.

There are also many shows, museums, cinema and a lot more to see and do there. You can visit the houses you want and have fun.

Of course, there is a garden with Popeye’s favorite food – spinach that gave him strength.

There is also a beach where you can spend time and have fun at the water trampolines or enjoy a twenty-minute boat ride around Anchor bay. You can find here fun for all ages.

The time spent there was amusing and totally different from the rest of the island, well, obviously, because we met Popeye and Olive in person and talked to them. How cool is that?

Have you ever visited some place like this one? Where was it? If you have any recommendations, comment below, I’d like to know it.

Popeyes village looks so good on the photos. During our stay in Malta, we were planing to visit Popeye village too. But sadly, we didn’t. :/ I was so curious to see it. Well, I hope I will come back to Malta one day and visit this place. 🙂
