Autumn is really magical season, especially when you are in New York. This city is a contrast of vibrant energy and nature’s color palette that spills over from Central Park into the city’s busy streets.
Central Park is an oasis in the heart of Manhattan, separating Upper East Side from the Upper West Side. It’s spacious park that covers 3,4 km2, in the shape of rectangle.
The park opened to the public in 1873. It took 20 000 workers and 15 years to create Central Park. Nowadays, it is one of the most famous city parks in the world.
There is no better place in the city if you want to be active. It is extremely popular place for outdoor recreation and various activities like speed walking, hiking, biking, jogging or roller skating. The entire park is adjusted for each activity with suitable paths and trails. In the wintertime, there is also a place for ice skating (one of my wishes, I would love to ice skate there 😊).
If you are more team sport person, you can also find here basketball, football and handball courts, fields for soccer and baseball, and even a large tennis center.
This statue of Alice in Wonderland is just one of the numerous ones in the Park.
You can rent a rowboat for 15$ per hour (with 20$ cash deposit) for up to 4 people. It was an experience for itself on such a wonderful sunny day. Thank you Tijana for a pleasant ride. 😉
Bow Bridge that stretches across the Lake is one of the most photographed and filmed locations, and is a Central Park landmark.
With great pedestrian pathways, walking is one of the options for exploring this peaceful oasis. Horse-drawn carriages are popular and unique way to experience the beauty of Central Park.
You can rent a bicycle and enjoy the ride by yourself or go on a guided bike tours of the park. Pedicabs, known as “bicycle rickshaws” are a fun tourist attraction for exploring.
The most recognizable lawn is The Great Lawn in the center of Central Park, perfect area for picnicking and relaxation.
Central Park has lots of squirrels, and it’s so cute seeing them randomly passing by.
I am absolutely fascinated with this place. Yes, I saw pictures of it many times earlier, and yes, I heard how big it is. But when you are actually there, that is something totally different. You are actually able to get away from skyscrapers and noisy city. How cool is that for such a metropolis? There is a lot more to see and do than I imagined and I enjoyed every single step taken there.
After all day walking, we decided it’s time for some relaxing. We randomly chose a bar, and it turned out to be a perfect choice.
The Press Lounge is a rooftop bar with stunning city and river views, great interior and atmosphere..
..and cocktails.
It was a perfect ending of this day with my beauties. Nice and relaxed evening with a fabulous view.
More about this magical city coming soon.. Stay tuned..
