This time, two years ago I was counting days until my trip to UAE. That year started very well with my trip to UAE, and continued with many other trips later that year.
My friend Jelena and I couldn’t be happier to go to visit our dear friend Sanja who lives there, and also to explore little bit this part of the world. We were ready to take off from Nikola Tesla Airport in Belgrade.
We had a pleasant flight, which lasts around 6 hours.
That was both Jelena’s and mine first time in that part of the world, so everything was interesting and new to us. We were so looking forward to it.
United Arab Emirates is a federation consists of 7 emirates. Besides the well known Emirate of Dubai, the rest of them are: Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Fujariah, Ras al-Khaimah, Sharjah and Umm al-Quwain.
The capital city of the UAE is Abu Dhabi, where we were located. We stayed for almost two weeks, and I had an absolutely amazing time there. Thank you Sanja for having us and making our stay special. Love you! 💜
We arrived there late at night on the 7th of March, so next day when Sanja came back from work we made a plan where to go first. Her friends invited us for dinner, so we went all together to an Indian restaurant. The ambiance was great, food was delicious and her friends were super friendly.
After that we decided to go for a drink somewhere. While we were driving we were listening to a local radio station, and suddenly the radio host was saying something like ‘We all wish Jelena and Aleksandra from Serbia a great stay in UAE. They are here for the first time, so welcome girls and hope you will have fun time here’. I was like ‘Whaaat?! What have just happened?! Have I just heard my name on the radio?!’ 😊😊😊 We were so surprised. And our new friends Malek and Ahmed from Abu Dhabi just smiled at us from the front seat. They organised it for us with their friend who works on the radio. How cool was that?! 😊
I can’t even tell you how surprised and delighted I was with that gesture. Thank you guys, you totally made our first day. That was the best 8th of March in my entire life (International Women’s Day). I will always remember this one for sure. 😊
We arrived at La Fontana – restaurant/cafe located in the 19th Floor with view over all Abu Dhabi. The view was stunning.
I tried shisha (nargila) for the first time there. At first, I didn’t like it. I assume watermelon was not my flavor. 😉
All in all, that day was perfect. My first impressions were more than great and I felt really ‘Welcomed to UAE’. 😊
